Cooking Hamburger Patties in Airfryer

Cooking a hamburger patty in an airfryer might seem surprising at first, but it turns out really well. In fact, we loved it so much that we now mostly cook pre-packaged hamburger patties in the airfryer.

For this recipe, we used pre-packaged patties made from grass-fed, grass-finished beef. If you want to make homemade hamburger patties, you basically have to follow the same instructions for cooking.

We make hamburgers at home almost every week. The whole family loves them, and they’re a quick and easy lunch or dinner idea. So, we usually keep an extra 1-2 packages in the freezer.

But I have to admit, I can’t stand frying hamburger patties in a pan. No matter how much I ventilate, the smell lingers in the apartment for a long time, and the stove and surrounding area need to be scrubbed clean of splattered grease.

When cooking hamburgers in the airfryer, there are no smells and no splattered oil to clean up. The airfryer tray can also go in the dishwasher.

Moreover, you don’t need to flip the patties, and it’s very predictable how well-done they will be cooked, just the way we like it.

We preheat our Cosori airfryer, then cook at 400 degrees F (200 C) for 8 minutes to achieve perfection. After this cooking time, they won’t be overdone, but the center will no longer be pink. If you prefer your hamburger completely well-done, leave it in the airfryer for another 2 minutes. Or cook for 1-2 minutes less for medium.

4 Tips for Cooking Hamburgers in the Airfryer

  1. Salt and pepper the patties just as you would when frying in a pan.
  2. If cooking thicker patties in the airfryer, increase the cooking time by 1-2 minutes. The patties we cook are about 0.5 inches thick.
  3. There’s no need to oil them.
  4. There’s no need to flip them during cooking.

If you want to enjoy a gluten-free hamburger, place the patties in an Iceberg lettuce leaf, add sauces, pickles, onions, and hold it together as if you were holding a hamburger bun.
