Start by preparing your filling. Soak the raisins in a bit of water to plump them up.
Next, grind the walnuts—it only takes a couple of minutes. Mix in the sugar, then stir in the grated lemon peel and plumped raisins.
Add a small amount of water to achieve a creamy, not dry, consistency for the filling.
Core the apples. For those who like extra filling, hollow out a bit more space inside.
Spoon the walnut mixture into the cored apples and place them in your air fryer basket or tray.
There’s no need to preheat the air fryer. Set it to 320°F (160°C) and bake the apples for 30 minutes. Since apples vary in type and size, check their softness with a needle at about 20-25 minutes, adjusting the time if necessary.
Once done, sprinkle the hot baked apples with cinnamon or a blend of powdered sugar and cinnamon. Let them cool slightly before serving—they’re fantastic both warm and cold.
